The son of an inner-city pastor, Gilbert has been part of ministry just about all his life but it wasn’t until the age of 14 that Gilbert gave his life to Christ and in the same year felt a call to ministry. After graduation from International Bible College in 1992 Gilbert served as youth pastor for 8 years on the Westside of San Antonio. Then in 2000 Gilbert joined the San Antonio Youth for Christ staff as the student led ministry director and in 2003 was promoted to San Antonio Youth for Christ ministry director. Gilbert has been our Executive Director since 2005. He is responsible for guiding the vision of SAYFC, development/stewardship, community relations and the Board of Directors. When not leading San Antonio YFC, he loves to golf, scuba dive and develop young leaders. He keeps busy chasing his two dogs and caring for the loves of his life, Hilda, his wife and Catalina their daughter. You can reach Gilbert at: [email protected].

Born in Leavenworth, Kansas in the late 1970s, Micah was the answer to a 20th century Hannah's prayer. Infancy and toddler years posed various physical obstacles for Micah. Born completely deaf in one ear and nearly deaf in the other, God touched and guided surgeons to enable perfected hearing for him. Micah's feet were slightly crooked at birth. The recommendation to break and reset his feet was denied by a God fearing mother that re-entered her prayer closet. Miraculously the touch from God caused his feet to straighten with no physician involvement. Micah, asked of God, touched by God, dedicated and determined to live and work for the Kingdom of God. He was baptized andinfilled with the Holy Spirit at the tender age of 6 years. In 1990, Micah’s family relocated to Northeast San Antonio. The pastor recognized the call of God on Micah's life and took him under his wing as a son. Even as Micah tried to run from the call as he entered adulthood, God held true to His word in Prov. 22:6. Accepting an invitation from his then girlfriend, Cynthia, to her childhoodSouthside church, God reminded Micah of his calling and he served in music and youth ministry there for over 10 years. Micah has been blessed to continue in ministry with his wife, Cynthia and their son, Zion at their home church in NW San Antonio. After having a successful career in commercial insurance for 15 years, Micah responded to God's destined purpose for his life. He joined the SAYFC family with a burning desire to introduce and reconnect lost young people to the unconditional love of God. You can reach Micah at [email protected].
Sandy Vogelman is married to her wonderful and supportive husband Gene. Together they have two beautiful children, Princess Nirvana and Richard Anthony who are both currently in High School. Coming from a broken home and a childhood of abuse, instability and homelessness, Sandy feels that the first ministry that God has entrusted to her is to be a Godly wife and mother centered on the foundational love of Christ. The second ministry she feels called to, is to push beyond the walls of broken youth to offer the same gift of hope that Christ gave her in restoring her life. She believes that nothing happens by accident and that all things work for the good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His riches and purpose.God has used Sandy’s broken past to mold her for such a time as this.
Sandy has been a member at West Campus Baptist Church (WCBC) for 14+ years where she has been discipled under the pastoral-ship of Dr. Robert & Mary Campos to reach outside the 4 walls of the church. She served as Administrative Assistant and Treasurer for almost 10 years. She also worked as the Project Director for Jireh Community Services, a non-profit birthed out of WCBC’s outreach ministries for about 6 years. During that time, the Lord had her in training and development for everything from grant writing, budget planning, mentoring, teaching and even cleaning toilets. Throughout the training she received in her early seasons walking in ministry, she felt a strong connection with young people and the urge to help them reach their God-given potential.
Sandy is currently the Youth Director at WCBC and feels blessed with the opportunity to serve in the mission field through SAYFC as the Mentor Coordinator. Sandy can be reached at [email protected] .
